CHESS ARENA

Chess Arena ("we", "our", or "the App") is a competitive chess mobile game developed by ABWebTech. This policy explains exactly what information we collect, why we need it, and how we protect it.

By downloading or using Chess Arena, you agree to the terms described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.

Chess Arena collects only the minimal data necessary to provide the game experience. Below is a complete breakdown of every piece of data we collect and why.

Chess Arena uses a pseudonymous profile system — not a traditional login system. Here is how it works:

• When you first launch the App, an anonymous session ID is generated for your device using Supabase's anonymous authentication. No email or password is needed at this step.
• You then choose a username, a recovery password, and a country to create your player profile. This is purely for in-game identity and social features.
• Your recovery password is used only to let you reclaim your profile on a new device or after reinstalling the App. It is not used for cryptographic authentication.
• You do not need to verify an email address or provide contact information at any stage.

Account Recovery

If you reinstall the App or switch to a new device, re-enter your username and recovery password to restore your profile, rating, credits, and progress. Without these credentials, your profile cannot be recovered.

We use your data exclusively for the following purposes:

• Profile display — showing your username, avatar, country flag, and ELO in-game and on leaderboards.
• Matchmaking — using your ELO rating to find appropriately skilled opponents.
• Progress tracking — storing game stats, win/loss record, win streak, and lesson progress.
• Daily rewards — tracking whether you have claimed your daily credit reward.
• Account recovery — restoring your profile on a new device or after reinstallation.
• Ad serving — displaying advertisements through Google AdMob (see Section 5).
• App improvement — aggregated, anonymised crash and performance data may be used to fix bugs and improve the App.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for marketing purposes. We do not use your data for profiling outside the App.

Chess Arena displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob, a service operated by Google LLC. Advertising enables us to keep the App free for all players.

What AdMob May Collect

When ads are displayed, Google AdMob may collect and process certain data, including:

• Advertising ID (GAID on Android) — a resettable, anonymous device identifier
• IP address (used to determine approximate region for ad targeting)
• Device type, operating system version, and screen size
• Ad interaction data (views, clicks, completion rates)
• App usage data for ad frequency capping

Personalised vs. Non-Personalised Ads

Depending on your region and applicable laws (such as GDPR or CCPA), Google AdMob may serve personalised ads based on your interests, or non-personalised ads based only on context.

No Direct Sale of Ad Data

Chess Arena does not directly sell any data to advertisers. Ad serving is fully managed by Google AdMob. We only receive aggregated, anonymised revenue and performance reports — not individually identifiable ad interaction data.

Cloud Storage (Supabase)

Your profile data is stored on servers provided by Supabase Inc., hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Supabase is SOC 2 compliant and employs industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256).

Local Storage (On-Device)

A local cache of your profile and app preferences is stored on your device using Hive, a local key-value database. This enables offline mode and faster load times.

Security Measures

• All data between the App and Supabase is encrypted via TLS 1.2+.
• Supabase Row-Level Security (RLS) ensures users can only access their own profile data.
• Your recovery password is stored to enable account recovery; it does not protect sensitive personal data and is not used cryptographically.
• We do not log or store gameplay moves, chat, or behavioural data beyond game statistics.

Depending on your country of residence, you may have the following rights:

• Right of Access — request a copy of the data we hold about your profile.
• Right to Rectification — update your username or country via in-app profile settings.
• Right to Erasure — request deletion of your profile and all associated data by contacting us.
• Right to Restrict Processing — request that we limit how we use your data.
• Right to Data Portability — request an export of your profile data.
• Right to Withdraw Consent — for ad personalisation, adjust your device's Advertising ID settings.

How to Delete Your Profile

Since Chess Arena does not collect your email address, to request account deletion please contact us with your username. We will delete your profile from our database within 30 days of a verified request.

Chess Arena is intended for users of all ages, including children. We comply with applicable laws including COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) and similar regulations.

• We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 beyond what is described in this policy.
• We do not require children to provide an email address, phone number, or sensitive personal information.
• Ads displayed to users identified as under 13 are served as child-directed (non-personalised) ads in compliance with Google AdMob's family policy.
• If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us data beyond what is described here, please contact us immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we do:

• The "Effective Date" at the top of this page will be updated.
• For material changes, we will display an in-app notice the next time you launch Chess Arena.
• Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
